Mabon or the Autumnal Equinox generally falls between September 21st and 23rd. Rituals include giving thanks for harvests, canning, putting up seeds for the next year’s planting, finishing projects and setting plans for new ones, reflecting upon the cyclical.
Ritual Boxes Include…
Candle—Your ritual candle is comprised of key scents and ingredients with considerable histories in nourishing the human soul. The aroma and crystal are both chosen with the intention to serve as catalysts for awareness. After you clean and clear your sacred space, and as you cast your circle, your candle is lit at the center.
Cauldron—Cast from iron, one of the earth’s most abundant metals, your cauldron is perfectly designed to safely hold burning incense or herbs. It will conduct heat, so place it upon a fireproof base. It’s open shape is symbolic of wisdom and the womb, of cyclical time and spiritual enlightenment. Clean your cauldron by wiping out soot and ash with a dry cloth. If you immerse the cauldron in water, be sure it has cooled first and dry thoroughly after to prevent rust.
White Sage—When lit and smoldering in your cauldron, sage will produce a white smoke which cleanses the air, a space, tools, a human or creature. Known as smudging, items can be passed through sage smoke for purification. Smudge a space by walking through every room with the smoking cauldron in hand. Smudge yourself by placing the cauldron upon a fireproof base on the floor, allowing the smoke bath to waft up and around your entire body.
Ritual Cards—Simple and straightforward ritual affirmations are provided for your use when casting your circle and performing rituals. Some contain questions which you can ask yourself as a means of opening the heart to explore your awareness. Over time, you may find that you develop or add your own words to personalize this practice. In fact, the more you can add from your own experience, the more powerful the ritual becomes.
Bath Bomb—A bath ritual involves the pouring of elements into the waters which nurture and revive. But it also allows for the cleansing and washing away of that which is unneeded. All the necessary herbs, salts, and crystal energies are provided for you in your bath bomb. It’s up to you to be the originator of this time for your whole self.
Crystals—Within your candle and bath bomb are crystals charged with clear and beneficial intent to amplify your intentions. Once free of the wax or after bathing, place your crystals on an altar or at the center of your ritual circle. You can also hold them in your palms or place them upon energy centers of the body like the heart or forehead. Some derive benefit from sleeping with crystals placed under the pillow. To cleanse crystals of accumulated energy, soak overnight in a saltwater bath. To charge them anew, place under a full moon.
Incense—Encompassing all the elements in its making and use, the burning of incense both cleanses and fortifies the human spirit in preparation for ritual practices. Light your incense at the start of your ritual or at any time when you need to center, refocus, or connect with more meditative aspects of daily life.
