It’s coming… A full moon! A super moon!! A lunar eclipse!!! An amazing trifecta of ecstatic moon-ness happens in the very early hours this Wednesday, May 26th. If that’s not reason to release every single last thing we’re holding onto, I don’t know what is!

So what does all this mean? Well, a super moon happens when the moon’s orbit is nearest to the earth. This is called perigee. When the moon is also full during this time, it looks larger simply because it’s closer to us. Yay! We love you moon!

A lunar eclipse, also called a blood moon, happens when our Sun, Earth, and Moon are in syzygy. That’s a great word, isn’t it? It’s fun to say too! Pronounced sizz-eh-gee, it means to be closely aligned. So… the moon passes behind Earth, the earth’s shadow falls across the moon, eclipsing it. Only reflected light then reaches the moon, so it appears as a dim red moon, or blood moon.

In this week’s blog I’m sharing a full moon release ritual. As you feel the huge pull of our moon moving closer to Earth in its orbit, may you direct all that powerful energy into identifying and then releasing every single vibration, thing, feeling, mood, memory, reaction, mode of being which no longer serves you! I’ll be under the moon, right there with you.

All my love, always.

How have you absorbed this life? We walk through a day and carry ourselves about in a body which senses—everything. This is how minds adhere to clutter, how hearts grow heavy, how burdens come to be. Thus there are cycles born of our human whirs, and seasons in the storm of this life as it plays out.

How the moon brightens each month is a way in which we may illuminate a new path. Suddenly a pristine experience is made ready for our next, new phase. We become cleansed and cleared under the full moon’s illuminations. We are delivered fresh upon a new day.

What have you grasped for too long? What is ready to be purged from your life in order to make room for an untried path?

You may wish to take a moment to reflect upon these questions, or to specifically name that which you are ready to release.

A full moon is like a ripe peach ready to be plucked. As a tree releases what’s become full to bursting with lush sweetness, we too have a season ripe for release. Without expectation, meet your burdens in a place of willingness and write them down. The full moon’s blaze can ignite our will for change. You may find it very satisfactory to set your written full moon intentions aflame by the fire of a candle and allow them to burn completely in a safe, fireproof container.

You may wish to recite this affirmation aloud or silently to yourself as you perform your ritual of release.

I cleanse myself of all selfishness, resentment,
critical feelings for my fellow beings, self-condemnation,
and misinterpretation of my life experiences.

I bathe myself in generosity, appreciation, praise,
and gratitude for my fellow beings, self-acceptance,
and enlightened understanding of my life experiences.
